Char Steak House in Raritan

1st time at this amazing restaurant. Service and food were top notch. Will definitely be making a return visit!

Can’t say enough about the customer service and the quality and taste of the food. Whenever my wife and I can sneak away for a date night or anniversary or special event we go to Char in Raritan. They have always gone above and beyond to make our experience the best.

Super chill steakhouse. Ambiance is best described as contemporary rustic. The food is mid-high priced, but great. Indoor seating is a little bit cramped, unless next to the curtain of falling water. Outside seating is nice, around a fire. Would recommend for inexperienced steakers and experienced steakers alike with a fair variety. The non steak options are nice too.

🗣🗣🗣 Listennnnnnn, lets have a conversation about how Char has now business doing Crab Cakes that well. I ordered the crab cake app and that joint was solid. Somehow, the chefs at Char made the corn side outshine the excellently prepared crab cake. Could have def been my entree... Butttt I also ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries. The fries came with thinly sliced jalapeños- which gave them just enough zing to differentiate them from every other fried potato in the land. I’ve been tasting tasting the local fried chicken sandwiches (Popeyes need not apply) and this one is my new fave. Bravo. I’ll be back, cannot wait til we can open dine-in to treat my hunny too. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

A Little pricey, but good service and excellent crab cakes

Char offers valet parking. The low lit ambience paired with chill out music radiates vibes of an upscale lounge in Manhattan. The food was superb; the cowboy ribeye steak, jumbo shrimp, crab meat stuffed mushrooms, crabcake, death by potato (cheesy mashed potatoes), and green beans were so delicious! I'll definitely dine there again!

The place offers a nice variety of fresh food. I loved eating here. Staff members are always super nice, rates are fair and the spot is always kept clean.

We were given a gift certificate and hadn't been able to use it. Finally made it! We sat outside. We were treated exceptionally well from the start. The hostess was sweet and made conversation. Our waiter Robert was amazing and knew everything about the menu and made great suggestions..we obviously had steak! Very good food and we will definitely be back. Atmosphere, food and staff are great!

It’s a very upper scale feel and expensive but I don’t feel it’s worth the price. Don’t get me wrong the food is really good but it’s not top notch great. Had to ask the server 3 times for a refill on my drink before I got it. On the menu it says 18% gratuity is already taken out for the servers but then the bill doesn’t say that it was. So I was really confused if I should tip or not. All in all I do have to say I enjoyed my time outside of everything else, but for those kind of prices I just expected a little more. And my family kind of agreed. If I do go again I’ll definitely be looking for a little more.

Francesco was great and the seafood and steaks were all top quality....service was attentive and spot on! On my list on New Jerseys best for sure!

I eat in this spot a lot since I work close by. I love how their customer service is always great and they keep the place neat at all times. Prices are fair and they serve generous portions.

The service, food and atmosphere was great! We enjoyed Meat and Potatoes, Maple Glazed Bacon, Death by Potatoes (a special side), Broccoli, Strip Steak and Mushrooms Caps. Will definitely return!

Food always delightful. However, bartender was wearing gloves to protect herself against patrons. If she doesn’t have confidence in their cleanliness why should anyone else?

Amazing food and staff is top notch. It is pricey but you are not coming here for some average food. The steaks are amazing and the specialty drinks were very unique and tasty. I highly recommend this place for a special night out.

Crowded - in a good way (obviously THE place to be). Good solid meal. Nit up to NYC standards though.

I had my steak well done. Crispy outside and still moist on the inside.. Expect to spend money. Prices are okay. They could cut them by just a few dollars. I just threw every thing on my plate when I got it! Great environment and service. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Parking was horrible. Free valet but the spots were so tight I didn't trust anyone parking my car. Cones placed all over the parking lot was frustrating. Overall good experience

Ate here once before and it was lovely. Such a wonderful atmosphere and attentive staff. Visited during winter months, but could imagine how great dining outside would be with their seating area and fire pit. Yummy bread basket with a few varietes to choose from. Had the salmon and was delighted.

The ambiance is terrific. Ate outside and it was very comfortable.Food was GREAT!!!Cooked to your liking. They the Ice cream cookie sundae it has everything in it. Best to share between 2 people at least!

Great food and it I felt very safe outside on the patio, but there were many insects and I have 3 bug bites. They were constantly annoying and somehow kept appearing on my body. Luckily they didn’t affect anyone else in my party really, but they saw and felt some. I think they might need to get it checked out.

Beautiful restaurant and wonderful service. The food was good and so was their desserts! Char is extremely busy every day of the week. And I can understand why!

I Ordered calamari for an appetizer and the surf and turf as the main entree. Yes, the place is pricey but I don't think you should be dining at a place with four dollar signs without knowing this ahead of time and then complain about it. With that being said, we thought the food was delicious. Service was great and the selection of wines was impeccable. I would absolutely return.

Great Food & Great Service ! We were attended by Taylor who was amazing. She was helpful with the menu, specials, drinks, etc. We also enjoyed the conversations we had with her. She truly added to the the great experience we were having. She is an asset to Char! The waitstaff was attentive and very cordial too. We have been to Char a few times and will definitely return!!

Great atmosphere and great service. My dining partner and I had the prix fixe menu. I enjoyed a very generous greens salad; my partner, the French onion soup. We had filet mignon which was perfectly cooked per our request with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. To top it off, a full sized dessert. My partner had the brownie w ice cream. I had creamer brulee. This is a great place for families with children, dinner meetings w clients, and a romantic date.

Great Restaurants. Service is top notch and they go the extra mile to make sure the customers are happy and satisfied. Atmosphere is also awesome. You can talk and spend time together with friends and family. There is nothing loud to prevent that. It has a very nice touch. Food is also unbelievable. So far everything I have tried here is been one of a kind. Every time in town for sure I will come back. Keep it up guys. You are doing a great job. Thank you for a great night.

Service is consistent and the thing that stands out the most. Employees seem happy. Food is good, steaks could improve especially dry aged. Still a good stop.

When I visit family in NJ I always want to take them for a fantastic dinner at Char. Steaks cooked to perfection. Great wine list. Great staff.

I celebrated my PhD last night in this excellent restaurant. Well we passed a terrific evening and the place was absolutely the reason for this happy event. The waiters cooperated in a pleasant manner, the cooking was delicious and my buddies were very joyful. We shall surely come back again for more events. thanks very much.

I go to this lovely spot quite a bit! This is the best place to eat. I visit this place many times. The food is fantastic, the team is friendly and the prices are reasonable. I enjoy meeting in this spot over a decent dinner.

This was our first time here and because of our experience with our waiter, Phil, we will be returning. His professionalism, accommodations, and his care and detail for our meal was very much appreciated. He knew everything about the menu and was extremely informative without skipping a beat. He even sat and fixed our lighting for us to make sure our experience was the best. Please ask for Phil if you’ve ever go yourself!!! Amazing food and service.

It's a fantastic experience as soon as you walk through the door, the waiters are fantastic and the food is Five Star All The Way. Make sure you order desserts!!
